In collaboration with students from Tetr College of Business, we worked together to build six library corners across two schools, creating simple but meaningful spaces where children can read, imagine, and grow. Through Libraries Without Walls, we continue to bring books and learning closer to children, especially in communities where access is limited.

The experience also created room for deeper engagement with young people. Through Aspire, we held conversations around confidence, growth, and opportunity to encourage students to see themselves as capable of shaping their own futures. Alongside this, Tetr College students facilitated digital learning and introductory coding sessions to open up new ways for students to engage with technology and innovation.

Through Green Vanguard, and together with Tetr College students, we partnered with the Forestry Commission to lead tree planting exercises, taking practical steps toward environmental awareness and climate action. Students didn’t just learn about sustainability, they actively participated in it.

Creativity was also at the heart of the experience. Through art, storytelling, and creative expression sessions, Tetr College students led our children to explore their ideas, share their voices, and connect with one another in meaningful ways.

Beyond the activities, what stood out most was the human connection. Over 200 students and youth from five schools across the Ayikuma area came together to learn, create, and share.

While handing a citation to Tetr College student leader, FEED’s Director of Programmes, Gilchrist Agyei noted that “this will remain one of the most meaningful engagement we have had with such a diverse group of students. Thank you for visiting our communities and leading change”.

We are truly grateful to Tetr College and our volunteer community for this meaningful collaboration. Their openness, energy, and willingness to engage made this experience impactful for everyone involved.

For many of these students, this was their first time owning books. A simple bag becomes a doorway to confidence, curiosity, and a lifelong habit of reading. Children can take books home, read at their own pace, and share stories with siblings and family members.

This initiative was made possible through the support of Books For You Miami, who provided the backpacks, and Discover Gidi, whose donations enabled the redistribution of five boxes of additional school supplies across partner schools.

It is through partnerships like these and the dedication of our volunteers and partner schools that a small intervention can create meaningful, lasting change. With every LitBag, we are not just giving children books but also opening doors to opportunity, imagination, and learning that extends far beyond the classroom walls.

At Stages School in Ayikuma, in the Shai Osudoku District, something is shifting. Students are no longer just using technology but also beginning to understand how it works and how to build with it.

Through our MindSpark program, FEED continues to introduce children to coding in ways that connect directly to their everyday lives. In a recent session, students worked with Micro:bit devices, learning how to program LEDs, sensors, and simple systems. With guidance from our Digital Learning, AI, Design & STEM lead, Derrick Edem Sosoo, they moved from curiosity to hands-on creation.

What stood out was not just what they built, but how they approached the process. Students tested ideas, made mistakes, adjusted their thinking, and tried again. Each line of code became a tool for problem-solving and critical thinking. For many of these students, this was their first time coding. For others, they were continuing to expand their knowledge of coding through our MindSpark program.

Coding, in this context, is both a technical skill and a way of thinking. It allows children to experiment, to ask questions, and to begin imagining solutions, whether it’s building simple projects or responding to challenges in their own communities. This work is made possible through access. Micro:bit devices provided the tools for learning, while laptops donated by Techsgiving and Greatness GIU made it possible for students to fully participate.

Something new and exciting is happening at Ayikuma Methodist School in the Shai Osudoku District.

Through our Libraries Without Walls program, FEED has installed three new library corners to create access to books and reading spaces for over 200 students across preschool, primary, and junior high school. For many of these children, this is the first time books are this close, this visible, and this accessible.

Our Library Corners are micro library spaces we create inside the classrooms of schools, filled with books children can access every day. We figured that if we can’t build large libraries, we can set up small libraries in the classrooms of schools without libraries.

These spaces may be simple, but their impact is powerful. A quiet corner. A few shelves. A set of books. It is often all it takes to change how a child experiences learning. Already, there is a noticeable shift. Children gathering around books. Curiosity building. Pages turning. Small moments that, over time, shape confidence and a culture of reading within the school.

This was made possible with the support of students from Tetr College, who worked alongside us to bring these spaces to life. It was a shared effort, practical, hands-on, and rooted in a simple goal: make learning more accessible. Handprints from the students turned the library corners into something they helped create, not just something they received.
